Summary of invitation to take part in the 3C Study
-
The 3C study aims to test new ways to make kidney transplants last longer
-
Kidney transplantation requires drugs to be taken for a long period of time.
Some of these drugs can damage the transplant in the long-term or have other harmful side-effects
(e.g. diabetes, high blood pressure).
-
If shown to be effective, the widespread use of CAMPATH or sirolimus may lengthen the lifespan of
many thousands of kidney transplants around the world each year.
-
Using sirolimus instead of tacrolimus may mean that drugs that damage the kidney in the long-term can be avoided.
